To make the process go as smoothly as possible, here are some essentials to keep in mind before and after installation.

Measurements

Before your carpeting order is placed, your showroom's installation team will visit your home to verify the accuracy of measurements and to identify any potential issues.

Flooring Removal

While carpeting can be installed over most hard surfaces, damaged subflooring and old carpeting will need to be removed before installation. Of course, your showroom's professionals will be happy to provide this service for you. When old carpet is being removed, it's best to vacuum it beforehand to minimize shedding.

Furniture Removal

Obstacles such as furniture and appliances need to be removed prior to installation. Again, ask your showroom's professionals if you'd like them to handle this for you.

Doors

Depending on the height of the carpet, it may be necessary to remove doors prior to installation. Also be aware that doors may need to be planed to clear the new carpeting.

Touch Ups

Because carpet is installed underneath baseboards, you may find that baseboards and/or quarter rounds will need minor paint touch ups after installation.

Seams
